The dance of tango places two people in an intimate embrace surrounded by others who are similarly connected. The couples share personal space with one another while moving in cooperation with other couples on the dance floor. All this is done to music with a respect to time-honored codigos that make it all work.
One doesn't need to be a master of the dance in order to enjoy the milonga. One is merely asked to follow the codes and behave in a socially appropriate manner. In the simplest of terms, a milonga is a party. At this party, people dance the tango. When they're not dancing, they chit chat with their friends, make new friends, and enjoy good food, drink, and great company.
